Welcome to Charlie’s Animal Rescue Centre
Charlies Animal Rescue Centre – CARE is an animal shelter established in January 2013 with the aim of providing timely medical aid to injured and ill animals of the street in Bangalore city.
CARE has a rescue helpline, animal ambulance services and a fully equipped veterinary trauma care unit.
No animal left behind is our main motto.
CARE strives to provide dignity to animals, who are old, blind, paraplegic & suffering from chronic diseases and allow them to live out their lives at the shelter in a safe & peaceful environment.
CARE is home to many dogs,cats,rabbits, ducks,hens,pigs,guinea pigs,birds and terrapins.

- Inpatient facility for sick and injured animals
- A fully equipped medical unit with OPD, Operation Theatre, X Ray, Scanning facility and Laser Machine C-ARM.
- Housing, rehabilitation and re-homing of abandoned animals
- Adoption of pups, kittens, dogs, cats, rabbits & guinea pigs.
- An exclusive Cattery with a separate Cat treatment unit and kitten nursery.
- A fully trained Tactical Rescue Team – CARE FORCE
- Veterinary underwater treadmill for hydrotherapy
- Neonatal Unit with ICU Incubators
- Special Section called Dogs of Determination for semi paralyzed dogs

Meet The Team
Sudha S Narayanan
CARE is headed by Ms Sudha Narayanan, Founder Trustee of CARE who comes with her immense expertise, knowledge and skills of over two decades in the field of animal welfare, both domestic and wild.
A Former trustee with CUPA – Compassion Unlimited Plus Action for 17 years and WRRC – WILDLIFE RESCUE AND REHABILITATION CENTRE, Ms Sudha, is known for her hands on capability of running an animal shelter single handedly without compromising on ethics, compassion and commitment.
Wg. Cdr. Lingaraj
Retired from the Indian Air Force as a Wing Commander and soon found his true calling working with animals. He was a very prominent figure in one of the largest animal shelters in Bangalore for over a decade, specializing in animal care, housing & rehabilitation. He brought to Care with his presence, his special touch of personalised care for every individual animal at the shelter.
Mallika Menon
A name synonymous with Kindness, Compassion and Grace, Mrs. Mallika Menon has been involved with animals in need from her childhood days. Her motto is ‘Never Give up on Any Animal’.
Megha Vijay
A civil engineer by profession, Megha has volunteered with several animal welfare organizations for the last 8 years doing ground level work with animals like fund raising, campaigns, health camps etc.
Rupesh Gowda
Mr. Rupesh Gowda is a builder by profession with a passion for animals.
Dr HD Lohith
One of Bangalore city’s leading Vets and a gifted orthopedician, Dr. Lohith’s capacity for compassion is unmatchable. The volume of pro bono complicated surgeries that he does every month for the stray and abandoned animals is seen to be believed. He is in fact the silent strength behind CARE’s progress.
He runs two very popular Vet Hospitals – Bangalore Pet Hospital and Maruti Pet Care Centre. He has over 50,000 surgeries to his credit.

The current veterinary team at CARE Consists of Dr Chetan Kumar D B-MVSc, Dr Rangaswamy – BVSc, Dr Madhav – MVSc(Surg) and Dr Gayathri Janardhanan – MVSc.
The team is extremely compassionate & dedicated to their profession and will go that extra mile for any animal in distress.
MC Vijaylakshmi
The catwoman of CARE, she brings with her, years of expertise in cat care and cat related issues. Her weakness for all things feline earned her the name of “Cat Lady”. With over two decades of experience in animal welfare, she has a way with cats and they take to her immediately. She has been a pillar of strength for CARE.
Chitra Narayanan
With over 24 years of experience with animals under her belt, Chitra is also a very talented artist. Her artwork can be found all over the Shelter, lending it a charm of its own.
While the Founder Trustees were brainstorming about starting an animal NGO, it was Chitra who came up with the brilliant idea of dedicating it to Charlie and calling it CHARLIES ANIMAL RESCUE CENTRE with the acronym CARE. It didn’t end with that. She then conceptualized the logo using the definitive features of Charlie which was then polished by Ananth Shankar, the noted cartoonist.
Jaysal Jagadish
Jaysal Jagadish is the Founder of Play Pet Boarding Pvt Ltd, Vybgior Events and Marketing solutions, and CEO of Unplugged India, a web design company. With immense experience in systems leadership, he brings his expertise in the field of marketing, design and events to CARE, also putting processes and documentation in place, his way of contributing to a cause that is very close to his heart.
Dr Mansi Yalamalli
Dr Mansi Yalamalli, a dentist by profession with a masters in Public Health Dentistry, has a flair for content writing, design and social media and a passion for animals. She is the face behind CARE’s social media platforms and is also involved in conceptualizing and organizing events for CARE.
